I have a similar problem. I use a large round brush as I dry my hair. When it’s almost dry wrap the hair around the brush and heat it with the dryer to dry it. Switch the dryer to cold or allow the hair to cool to set it. Once it’s styled add hair spray.

I find the curling wands too unpredictable on the fringe area. They are great for adding volume to longer areas. I have very fine hair so yours’ may be different.

By the way use a brush without the bobbles on the ends of the tines. They make it difficult to release the hair without destroying the styling.
